Radio Zim top 50 winners awarded

Winners of the Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola Top 50 were yesterday given their prizes at Mandel Training Centre.

Musicians and listeners went away with money and several prizes that included television sets, radios and cell phones.

Blessing Shumba, Winky D, Trevor Dongo, Soul Jah Love, Simon Mutambi, Rev Chivaviro and Ex Q walked away with money and hampers.

Shumba was the biggest winner after he pocketed $1 300 for his song “Chimwenechimwe” that topped the charts.

Shumba was grateful to Coca-Cola and Radio Zimbabwe for their support to local music.

“They have remained committed in assisting musicians to further their careers.

“Keep the good work and God will bless you,” he said much to the delight of the fans.

He said it was a great honour to have a song that tops the chats.

“It is the beginning of the year and when fans vote for you it encourages you,” he said.

Winky D said it was good that the competition encourages artistes.

“It keeps us motivated as artistes and we keep on working hard so that we get the reward at the end of the year,” said Winky D.

“The musician pocketed $1 200 for the best video while Ex Q and Roki went away with $800 and Dongo took home $500 for their videos.

Mutambi won best sungura, Soul Jah Love best dancehall while best jibilika went to Clemence Magwaza from Bulawayo and best gospel was also taken by Shumba.

People from various parts of the country who predicted the winners correctly walked away with several electrical gadgets.
