‘All politicians contaminated’

FORMER MDC-T MP for Bulilima East, Norman Mpofu, has made sensational claims that all ruling and opposition politicians are corrupt and power hungry.

He said Zimbabweans must not bank their hopes on such leaders to transform their lives.

Mpofu, who declared that he was giving up on politics, indicated that no trust should be given to the current crop of politicians, including those in Zanu PF and MDC-T, saying they were all “contaminated”.

He said MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai should not be trusted to lead the nation to success, if he beats President Robert Mugabe in future elections.

“Zimbabwe no longer needs anyone who was once in government. I do not think that people should have hope even on myself,” Mpofu said.

“People must not believe that we can change anything because things have gone too worse. Any politician who has been in politics during this time and before cannot be trusted to bring any change.”

Mpofu said the MDC-T was crumbling due to factional fights, adding the opposition party would not bring any positive change.
“The only hope for Zimbabwe are people who have never participated in active politics since 1980,” he said.

“We had heard that people like Strive Masiyiwa wanted to get into politics. Otherwise, such people are the ones who can take Zimbabwe somewhere, not those who have been there.”

Mpofu’s remarks come at a time when the MDC-T is reportedly embroiled in factional fights.

Former MDC-T national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa is reportedly fighting Tsvangirai’s leadership, but has persistently denied the allegations.

Zanu PF is also rocked by factional fights, which saw former Vice-President Joice Mujuru and her loyalists being ousted in 2014.SouthernEye
