Area Surrounding Amos Midzi’s Vehicle Filled With Odour of Pesticide:Report

HARARE-Preliminary investigations into the death of former  Zimbabwe envoy to the US and Zanu PF stalwart, ambassador Amos Midzi suggest suicide by poisoning as the area surrounding the vehicle is filled with odour of a suspected pesticide, the state owned ZBC has reported.

Midzi(62) was the Epworth legislator.

Police homicide and forensic experts who carried out investigations at his Marirangwe farm the scene of the accident Tuesday morning revealed that its a  suspected case of suicide.

Midzi’s body was found at the backseat with his legs stretched in-between the front seats where gear lever is positioned.Also discovered in the vehicle are small blue pills .The blue pills found in the car were purchased on the 29th of May.1-The-body-OF-former-Enegy-Minister-and-Epworthy-MP-lies-in-his-car-where-he-was-found-dead-in-his-Mnandi-farm-Pic-Shepherd-Tozvireva
The vehicle in which Amos Midzi was found was locked. Police could not find the keys on the scene. They broke the door to get to his body.

Car keys which have been reported missing were  found under the mat in the car. Also found was $282. The notes were in different pockets.

The farm manager who spoke to ZBC  says he last saw Midzi alive at 2300hrs when they held a meeting, adding after that the deceased left claiming to visit a neighbour before returning home.

Pathologists have also visited the scene.

Close family friends who can not be named say the troubled politician was heavily indebted with most assets under the hammer.

Former Zanu PF spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo confirmed receiving news of Midzi’s death and described it as a tragedy.

Those close to Midzi said his unceremonious exit from Zanu PF could have contributed to his demise.

He was one of the many party officials who were hauled out of Zanu PF for alleged links to former Vice President Joice Mujuru.1-His-relatives
