Bhasikiti has finally come to terms with his expulsion from Zanu PF and withdrew his Constitutional Court challenge after losing a Supreme Court case.
He was challenging the party and President Robert Mugabe for allegedly illegally expelling him from Zanu PF.
Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku grilled Tendai Biti over his manner of addressing the decision by Justice Chinembiri Bhunu who presided over Bhasikiti’s challenge.
Biti said the judge was wrong in his findings and Chief Justice Chidyausiku warned the senior lawyer to draw a distinction between addressing the court and political opponents.
The court said it was not its duty to patch up relationships of people of voluntary organisations whose differences are such that they are irreconcilable.
The court also questioned the logic behind Bhasikiti’s continued pursuits in being drafted back into a party he regards as lawless and dismissed the application with costs.
After taking instructions from Bhasikiti, Biti informed the court that his client was withdrawing the Constitutional Court challenge against President Mugabe, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and the Attorney General.
The court removed the matter off the roll with the consent of all parties with no order as to costs.ZBC
