Chinese man who shot two Zimbabwe employees is freed

Reden Mine manager, Zihang Xuelin (50), who allegedly shot and injured two of his employees following a pay dispute at the company premises in Gweru a fortnight ago, has been granted $10 000 bail by Masvingo High Court judge, Justice Garainesu Mawadze.

Justice Mawadze advised Xuelin to surrender his passport and reside at his Gweru Windsor address and to report every Friday at Gweru central police Station as part of his bail conditions.

Xuelin who is facing attempted murder charges after he shot one of his employees, Mr Kenneth Tichaona three times on both legs before shooting at bystanders resulting in a bullet razing through the chin of another worker had initially been denied bail when he appeared before Gweru magistrate, Mr Edwin Marecha.

The accused briefly appeared before magistrate Marecha on Tuesday and was remanded to August 6, 2020, for a trial.

Meanwhile one of his victims, Tachiona has demanded compensation saying that he was now disabled hence unable to fend for his family.

Tachiona’s doctor said he might not be able to walk again.
