A ZANU PF councillor for ward 12 in Mkoba, Gweru has been arraigned before the courts on allegations of raping a 16 year old teenage girl at gunpoint.
Charles Simbi, a well-known gold miner in the city, allegedly lured the girl to a lodge where he raped her at gunpoint.
The businessman who appeared before Gweru magistrate Judith Taruvinga was not asked to plead and remanded out of custody on $100 bail.
He will reappear in court on March 10 for trial.
The court heard that sometime in September last year the Zanu PF councillor allegedly invited the girl to a lodge in Lundi Park where he asked her to have sex with him.
After his advances were turned down the businessman allegedly produced a pistol and forcibly undressed her before raping her once.
The businessman allegedly went on to rape the girl on several occasions between September and November last year.
She however reported the matter this month leading to the arrest of the miner this Monday.
