Delta in US$26 million upgrade as demand for the Chibuku Super brand continues to soar

DELTA Beverages has invested US$26 million on upgrades of its Masvingo and Kwekwe breweries to meet increased demand for the Chibuku Super brand.
The company’s corporate affairs manager, Mr Tsungai Manyeza, said, “Delta Beverages has (in February) commenced the upgrading of its Masvingo and Kwekwe Breweries to produce the increasingly popular Chibuku Super brand.img_0027

“The supply of Chibuku Super has failed to meet demand since the brand was introduced to the market in 2012.
‘‘The increased capacity at the Fairbridge Brewery (Bulawayo) in October 2015 has already been fully extended.”
He said Masvingo and Kwekwe were in short supply of Chibuku Super since 2012, hence the need to scale up production.
The company has capacity to supply about 220 000 hectolitres (2,2 million litres) of Chibuku Super in the 1,25 litre pack from plants in Chitungwiza and Fairbridge.
This is expected to increase to 240 000 hectolitres when additional brewing tanks are installed at Fairbridge by March 2016.
There is sufficient capacity for the two-litre “Scud”, which retails for USc75.
Mr Manyeza said the Kwekwe Brewery would be closed temporarily while the Masvingo unit would remain open during the upgrades.
The Masvingo brewery may close for a short period later in the year to allow for plant integration.
Mr Manyeza also said Delta was committed to work with its partners like local authorities and the Environmental Management Agency to combat litter from used packaging.
The company has since scaled up placement of litter collection cages and raising awareness on the benefits of recycling PET bottles.-SM
