DRC rhumba star Koffi Olomide jets in for Harare carnival

CONGOLESE rhumba star Koffi Olomide was expected to arrive in Harare Wednesday morning for the ongoing Harare International Carnival.

Koffi last performed in Zimbabwe last year at the wedding of President Robert Mugabe’s daughter Bona.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), organisers of the annual festival said the DRC star would arrive in Harare at 0100hrs ahead of his performance in the capital Thursday at the Chinese owned Long Chen Plaza.

Koffi will perform alongside other local rhumba outfits including BV Labien Musica and Diamond Musica.

“We are happy to share the stage with the big star. It is indeed going to be a memorable event,” said Pitchou Lumiere of Diamond Musica.

Already in the country for the carnival is Brazilian samba dancers Momo King who were due to perform at the Private Lounge in the capital.

The Brazilians will also feature at the Koffi Olomide show alongside local dancers Bev and Zoey.

The carnival will culminate in Saturday’s Street Party in central Harare.
