Easy Go Sues Minister Zhuwao Over Car Hire Debt

PUBLIC Service, Labour and Social Welfare minister Patrick Zhuwao has been dragged to the High Court by Easy Go (Pvt) Ltd over $28 521 owed by his former ministry in car rentals.

Easy Go, a subsidiary of the Transport ministry’s parastatal CMED (Pvt) Ltd issued its summons on July 20 this year citing Zhuwao in his official capacity as the then youth minister.

“Sometime in 2015 and 2016 Plaintiff (Easy Go) and Defendant (Zhuwao) entered into an agreement in terms of which Plaintiff hired out vehicles to the Defendant.

Defendant breached the agreement by paying part of the amount leaving a balance in the sum of $28 521.53,” reads part of the summons from Easy Go. Easy Go argue that the minister has “refused, failed and or neglected to pay the whole amount despite demand’’.

Minister Zhuwao has not responded to the summons and Easy Go has now made an application for a default judgement.

Easy Go through their lawyers TK Hove and Partners claim that Minister Zhuwao was duly served with the summons but failed to file an appearance to defend and is therefore automatically barred”.
