The MDC is set to erect a statue at the party’s headquarters in Harare in honour of its founding president, the late Morgan Tsvangirai.

Party secretary-general Chalton Hwende told the Daily News on Monday that the life-size statue should be done before the end of this year. He said:

The MDC is calling on artists who can make a life-size statue of… Tsvangirai to submit their proposals and bids by October 30.

Plans are at an advanced stage; the statue will be erected at the party’s headquarters in Harare before year-end.

Tsvangirai died on February 14, 2018, at the age of 65 after a long battle with colon cancer.

He had been at the helm of the opposition MDC since its formation in 1999 and was buried at his rural home in Humanikwa Village in Buhera.
