Online registration is already going on for this year’s finals that will be held in December and the live auditions begin next month.

The hunt, which aims to promote Zimbabwean talent from all works, will include auditions in the voice, theatre and drama, poetry, comedy, mixtape (DJs), dance and beauty categories.

The finals for this year’s edition will again be held in Harare.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, ZiTH director Shepherd Munyawiri said preparations for the countrywide preliminaries are at an advanced stage.

“We can safely say that preparations for this year’s edition are now at an advanced stage. Just like last year we are going for the hunt in all of the country’s 10 provinces to come up with the best. In the meantime we have opened doors for online registration and all interested candidates must visit the Zimtalent website, zimtalenthunt.com ”, he said.

Munyawiri said the auditions will kick off in the first week of June after consultations with prospective sponsors and partners. “ZiTH has delayed this year’s start because we were still to register with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Music Rights Association. We got our licence and now have set the first week of June for the kick off,” he said.

He said they will draw competitors from both the online and live auditions.

“Zimtalent is out to seek raw talent in the country. We are going to have a shortlist of two live audition contestants from each of the 10 provinces to compete with the shortlisted contestants from the online auditions,” he said.

Munyawiri added that they will be running a song writing seminar later this month.

“To kick start our hunt for this year’s edition, we have slated May 21 for holding a song writing seminar for all artistes at the Parkview Restaurant in the Harare Gardens,” he said.

In the meantime, ZiTH has begun the recording for last year’s winner and finalists and has got a “Reminisce – Recall – Relive – Recollect” promotion currently running on its Zimtalent Facebook page sponsored by Reminisce Messages UK.
