Jah Prayzah in Farewell Shows

Jah Prayzah who is scheduled to tour Australia this month is expected to stage his farewell shows this weekend. Tonight he performs at Joy Centre in Chitungwiza and tomorrow he goes to Club Las Vegas in Southerton.

The musician’s manageress Filda Muchabaiwa said they were looking forward to a good weekend.

“A lot is being said (about Jah Prayzah) but to be honest that is giving him the energy to prove that talent is God-given,” said Muchabaiwa.

She said the musician will sample songs from his coming album that will be released in April.

“Everything is now on course and the album will be out in April so the songs are being played at our shows,” she said.

The “Tsviriyo” singer has lined up shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.

The Third Generation front man will share the stage with rising singer Portifa Mopo of the “Makandiberekerei” fame.

Portifa, who is the son of veteran singer Mike Mopo, is steadily building a firm fan base and people love him for who he is. Backed by Zinawa, a group which used to back his father, the youngster does not try too much to sound like his father but he is his own man.

The Las Vegas gig will see Jah serenade music lovers at the trendy joint which was formerly known as Octopus Club.

The joint was recently refurbished and now resembles a proper hangout for family and private functions offering the cool ambience for the discerning revellers. The VIP area is for those who want to enjoy the music without being pushed or shoved.

But since music lovers seem not to have enough of Jah, music will be the soul food and it will play on until sunrise.

Jah wrote his own piece of history at the 13th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards by winning a record four gongs including for Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Album (Tsviriyo), Outstanding Song (Tsviriyo) and the most coveted People’s Choice Award.

He has taken his brand to another level and he is one youngster to watch out for in the near future. Jah is the sort of musician who does not belong to a particular genre and it is difficult to pigeonhole his music.

However, what is known about him is that he plays nice music. Music that moves revellers. He continues to collaborate with other musicians in the likes of Suluman Chimbetu, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Ammara Brown.

For those who love old skool music, Club Las Vegas will be blazing it up with the likes of Dr Zobha and DJ Flabba on the decks from midday until late in the evening every weekend. The combination of Dr Zobha and Flabba is one to watch out for as the two mean business on the decks.

Club Las Vegas spokesperson confirmed that Jah Prayzah would perform in the main bar where there are no rains fears.
