The ruling by Harare Judge, Justice Muchawa followed an appeal by Air Zimbabwe after a similar order was issued by the Labour court in February this year in which the airline lost the case against the workers.

Justice Makonese ruled that Air Zimbabwe must reinstate the workers within 60 days without loss of pay and benefits.

” If reinstatement is no longer tenable, Air Zimbabwe is to pay the workers damages in lieu of reinstatement which the parties are to negotiate, failing which either party can approach the applicant for quantification” , said the Judge.

Air Zimbabwe sacked 333 employees across all grades in a restructuring exercise meant to turn around its fortunes in August  2015.

Airzim is facing financial challenges due to a number of reasons ranging from ballooning debts due to mismanagement over the years.
