Knives out for MDC’s Misihairabwi-Mushonga

A LEADERSHIP row in the opposition MDC faction led by Welshman Ncube took a new twist this week after the party’s Youth Assembly told secretary general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga to “step-aside”.

This follows a public spat on a social networking site in which the former regional integration minister allegedly described the party as a “junk-yard”.

In a statement this week, the youth assembly called on the party’s leadership to take disciplinary measures against Misiharaibwi-Mushonga for misconduct and bringing the party into disrepute.

“The assembly posits that the secretary general’s conduct is not only inconsistent with the purposes and objectives of the party but also undermine the general principles of leadership and has brought the name of the party into disrepute,” the statement read.

“Her conduct if not misconduct violates the fundamental dictates of our party constitution that immediately calls to duty the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

“The secretary general’s statements depicts emotional anger that have rigged normal reasoning and cerebral stability.

“It is against this background that the Youth Assembly has taken a position that the secretary general should take a break and attend to her psychological issues, a position which in our view will be to her advantage.”

Responding on Facebook to a scathing letter from a party member against her, which appeared in a privately-owned newspaper last weekend, Misihairabwi-Mushonga vented her anger and trashed the troubled party and some of its followers.

“Ouch, it’s sore to be in junk yard, and am so waiting to be pushed out,” she wrote.

“Noone is indispensable, the sooner you do it the faster you march to State House riding on donkeys, please keep writing.

“It is so gratifying to know that there are so many of you that really genuinely not just dislike me, but hate me. Aluta continua, I so await for the next instalment. Happy hating.”

She added: “I don’t mind those that think that the revolution will be achieved by pushing me out.

“The sooner they do it, the faster we can all live happily ever after, so let’s encourage them as they may be the saviours we were looking for.

“They must know something we don’t know, that our problems would just go as soon as this evil person Priscilla is banished. Please let’s support their cause”.

Reports last month claimed that Ncube had allegedly fallen out with long-time ally Misihairabwi-Mushonga over positions in a new party that will emerge from the ongoing re-unification talks with the MDC-Renewal.

It is alleged that Misihairabwi-Mushonga was allegedly backing Renewal Team secretary general Tendai Biti to lead the mooted united outfit, ahead of Ncube allegedly in a bid to secure her position as secretary general.

Last October the two opposition formations reached a unity agreement that will culminate in a congress later this year.
