Zanu PF Midlands Development Association chairperson and Central committee member Larry Mavima, who is also a Mnangagwa loyalist, has rubbished allegations that he was responsible for chucking out deputy mines minister Fred Moyo from vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s celebration bash in Zvishavane last weekend.
In an interview Mavima said those accusing him of the offence are ill informed because he is too senior to act like that.
“I am shocked by the report in the Daily News,” Mavima said.
“I am a seasoned politician who is a new member of the central committee and does not hold grudges,” said an irate Mavima.
“Fred Moyo is a politician like me and we are working together in the province so how can I chase him from a celebration party. The Daily News is trying to create some enmity between me and Moyo,” he said.
Last week some “overzealous youths in the Midlands” chucked out pro ousted vice president Joice Mujuru from attending the celebration party at Mnangagwa’s Zvishavane home.
Mnangagwa has since apologized to Moyo and others who were barred from attending the party.
“I was not even there when this happened. We only heard of it when we arrived at the vice president’s residence.”
“The vice president even warned the youths that they were being irresponsible because the celebrations were open to anyone,” Mavima said.
Moyo lost in the charged Zanu PF central committee elections and remains in limbo as he is likely to be booted out in the forthcoming cabinet reshuffle because of his links to Mujuru.
