His Excellency the President

Comrade R.G. Mugabe

Your Excellency,

It is with a sunken heart, utmost sincerity and absolute humility that I throw myself at your feet to apologise profoundly to you personally Your Excellency, as the First Secretary of our Party, our Head of State and Government, Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and the Patron of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association, which fate has thrust upon me to be the National Chairman since November 2014, and  also to your family, the Party and the People of Zimbabwe as a whole, for all that I may have said  or done to offend any or all of them, therefore , earning my current social and political censure and rancour.

I wish to assure you, Your Excellency, that I have never, by word, or action, harboured any intention to impugn you or be any part of any plot, either real or imagined to remove you prematurely or constitutionally from office. As part of the finest crop of fighters who were groomed in the crucible of the Liberation Struggle, indeed under your stewardship, I have never found it in my heart to even fault you, let alone wish you out of power or dead. To me, and to the majority of my fellow combatants, you are an icon, almost, as a superhuman and infallible being. Naturally, when things appear to go wrong, as they occasionally do, we are inclined to find fault in your gatekeepers, your advisors and those who are closest to you. We are and have always been prepared, even to die for you, Your Excellency.

Yes, admittedly, when we talk or act people around us are bound to analyse and interpret. Quite often, however, they may misread or exaggerate the meaning of our words or actions, thus misinforming or misleading authority to react in ways, as in my case, may amount to overkill. In my present predicament, and without at all attempting to understate the seriousness of my transgressions to those I may have offended, I feel like a mare sparrow for whom all the howitzers that seem now arrayed in salvo against me may, ultimately, be a disproportionate weapon of choice to whip me back if I have strayed from the Party line.

Your Excellency, I am a loyal and dedicated cadre of the Party. ZANU PF is the Party of my life and the Party of my family. I have neither home nor life outside ZANU PF. With this in mind, Your Excellency, I appeal to you to find it in your heart to forgive me and my wife Monica as well, for everything that we may have done to offend the system that nurtured us into adulthood and political maturity.

Regarding your forthcoming meeting with War Veterans, I am ready, on your counsel Your Excellency, to rescue myself from it, if that is desired in the interest of allowing an orderly, dignified and constructive conversation between you and your fellow War Veterans on issues to do with statutory welfare benefits, the current and future state of the Party and the general state of the country. I wish, once again Your Excellency, to apologise most solemnly for all my actions or utterances which may have offended you, your family and the Party. Tirivana venyu Your  Excellency. Tidzorei nepamunokwanisa, neshamhu  kana nemazwi, asi musatirasire muminzwa kana mugomba rizere nyoka.Handina kuramba kudzorwa  Your Excellency. Kukanganisa kuri muvanhu. Ngaisiye Matambo Gushungo. I remain, ready as always, for your esteemed counsel or any further censure that may be coming my way.

Yours sincerely and most respectiful
Christopher Hatikure Mutsvangwa
