Nonagenarian leader Mugabe says Tsvangirai is dead

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe had a dig Wednesday at main adversary former Prime Minister and opposition MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai for “taking pride in Zanu PF misfortunes”.

“These factional fights are giving currency to the opposition. To people like Tsvangirai; now they think Zanu PF is more divided than their party.

“But he does not realise that his party is finished; he has nothing left. In fact, he is left with part of a party. I hear in the past few days he admitted that he cannot win against us.

“Now is it that difficult for him to just admit that he is a failure. Even failures in politics have political graves, we can dig one for him,” Mugabe said.

The veteran leader was addressing party supporters at Zanu PF headquarters at which divisions within the former liberation movement once again took centre stage.

Mugabe is battling his party’s factional demons which, in the last few weeks, threatened to another breakup after former vice president Joice Mujuru’s brutal ouster in 2014.

There have also been outbreaks of violence as the rival groups battle over the 92-year-old leader’s succession.

Tsvangirai has, however fared no better following his party’s second split after the 2013 elections.

There continues to be rumblings of disagreements amongst his top lieutenants with former organising secretary Nelson Chamisa reportedly the focus of attention and acrimony with the ex-premier.-Zimbabwean
