The adage a picture is worth a thousand words could never be more suitable to describe a picture of a park ranger pictured sitting next to a baby gorilla that lost its mother to poachers.

The picture which has moved many people on social media depicts the ranger, Patrick Karabaranga from the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo with his arm around the baby gorilla’s shoulder, seemingly comforting the animal after its mother’s death.

The gorilla appears to respond to the compassion by putting its hands on Karabaranga’s leg, a perfect example of man in perfect harmony with nature, although it’s a tragic case.

Wildlife poaching has become pervasive and conservationists have now resorted to using technology to fight the crime. Owing to poaching and deforestation, mountain gorillas have become a critically endangered and reports suggest that “poaching continues unabated and “forests are rapidly being destroyed by commercial logging,” biodiversity conservation group World Wide Fund for Nature  said.
