When he isn’t talking crudely about vaseline, demanding more money in the middle of press conferences or flipping over tables, Derek ‘WAR’ Chisora can be seen on his countryside farm seeking solitude amongst nature and his animals.
The unlikely boxing hero from London has become a fan-favourite over recent years. Known for his foul-mouthed rants, a former rivalry with David Haye that has now blossomed into a working relationship, spitting in the face of Wladimir Klitschko prior to his hard-fought loss to older brother Vitali, the Zimbabwe-born 35-year-old uses the farm as an escape from all of that showmanship and public image.
He told Sky Sports, “When I’m here, when the gate closes, I shut off. I shut off from everything. You don’t look at your phone when you’re here. It’s the only place where you won’t look at your phone.”
