Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai  fled to neighbouring Botswana fearing for his life as the presidential election standoff reached its third week in 2008 following Sir Wicknell’s  advice, theZimbabwenewslive can reveal.IMG-20130805-WA0010

Mr Tsvangirai who is confirmed to have  beaten  President Robert Mugabe in the March 29 elections held simultaneously with parliamentary elections  escaped Zimbabwe after receiving funding and tip off from Wicknell Chivhayo.

It is not clear how much was handed over to Tsvangirai.

Following the disputed election results , Chivayo who was a close friend of Tsvangirai at the time delivered a message from an unnamed Army General that they were supporting him , only for Wicknell a few days later  to advise Tsvangirai to escape Zimbabwe saying that the service chiefs had given him advice to pave way for a peaceful transition of power as some wanted to kill him.

He was given the message about the plot to kill him whilst chairing the first standing committee meeting after the 28th April elections, at Corporate Excellence, Mangoma’s Offices. He left in a huff without warning others, and ended up involved in an accident close to Plumtree as he sped in Mungofa’s vehicle.12321683_10208820218483760_1929679760192375162_n

In 2013, he was seated with him at Meikles (picture) and was made to believe that he was winning the election, only to be shocked as polling station results were coming in.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police and the State Security agents were fully ready to make MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai President of Zimbabwe soon after the 2008 elections, Robert Mugabe’s former State Security Boss Didymus Mutasa said in 2015.
