The Zanu PFCentral Committee, the highest decision making body in between Congresses today approved all constitutional amendments proposed by the Politburo to the ZANU PF constitution. Under the new party laws, the First Secretary and President of the party who is currently Cde Robert Mugabe will now appoint all Politburo members including the national Chairman and two deputies. There is no longer a gender restriction in terms of the Vice Presidents and as such the President may appoint an all male presidium if he so wishes. Among other changes, only Secretaries of given portfolios will now attend Politburo while their deputies will no longer be eligible to attend. The move is meant to stem factionalism according to reports. Meanwhile, the President has been urged not to redeem those comrades who have been rejected by the masses for not only fanning factionalism but also attempting to topple him from power using unorthodox means. They include Joice Mujuru, Didymus Mutasa, Nicholas Goche, Webester Shamu, Herbert Murerwa and Dzikamai Mavhaire who have been fingered in a wicked plot to assassinate the President. The youths who according to the constitution are the vineguard of the party have vowed to bar these from attending Congress.
Latest reports also indicate that the former Zanu PF spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo whom politburo suspended for five years for practising factionalism has been expelled from the party by the Central Committee. He follows in the footsteps of disgraced former War Veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda who suffered the same fate a few days ago.
