Wanting Mugabe’s Job Is Like Satan Wanting To Be God – Mphoko

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has distanced himself from any presidential ambitions adding it would be gross insubordination if he started wishing for a higher position.

Speaking to thousands of Zanu PF supporters on Friday during the First Lady Grace Mugabe’s Chiweshe meet-the-people rally, Mphoko said he was grateful to God for allowing him to rise to become one of the two Vice Presidents.

Mphoko said wishing for more would be insulting to God who has allowed him to rise to a position coveted by millions of Zimbabweans.

“This country has 14 million people; 14 million! I am among the third most senior individuals in the country starting with President Mugabe and his wife, ED (Emmerson Mnangagwa) and his wife, as well as myself and my wife,” Mphoko said in Ndebele.

“I will not insult God when I start demanding more. Having risen high up there and still not get satisfied! Where do I still want to go to! That is open insubordination. Please let us be content with what we already have.”

His comments were interpreted to be aimed at co-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is in the eye of the storm for allegedly showing presidential ambitions.

Mphoko said there was no where enshrined in the Zanu PF constitution indicating that the country was liberated by Zezurus or Ndebeles, among the different tribes in Zimbabwe.

He dismissed wide talk emanating from VP Mnangagwa’s backers that the country’s leadership must shift from a Zezuru, Mugabe’s tribe, to a Karanga, Mnangagwa’s tribe.

“What we hear today that Mugabe is Zezuru and must be successed by a Karanga is unacceptable in Zimbabwe. These are Rhodesian tendencies; ours is a straight forward,” Mphoko said, eliciting smiles from the First Lady who sat right next to him.

Mphoko likened having presidential ambitions to Satan wanting to become God.

His co-VP Emmerson Mnangagwa is in the eye of the storm after he is widely seen to be angling to succeed President Mugabe.

Mnangagwa was Wednesday dressed down in front of thousands of party supporters by Hurungwe East MP Sarah Mahoka who openly told the embattled VP he was putting his life on the line by allowing his followers to openly campaign for his ascendancy.VOP
