It is alleged that Old mutual had refused to pay out and the family decided to take the body as proof to their offices.

The insurer has since confirmed this incident, however, admitting the incident is regrettable and isolated because the claim had to undergo further assessments before pay-outs.

Normally, many of Old Mutual funeral claims are paid within 8 hours once all requirements are met, however, on this case, it took long for the assessment to be made forcing the frustrated family to hand-deliver evidence of death-literally.
