WATCH: Zimbabwe Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube Doesn’t Know The Price Of Bread
Shortage of Bread
A section of Zimbabwean citizens has condemned Finance and Economic Development, Mthuli Ncube for being “detached” from the reality of the hardships people are experiencing.
On being asked by his interviewer on what the price of a loaf of bread is, Mthuli simply said, “it is whatever it is, so?”. After being told that it costs $6.50, his reply was, “so?”
Glen Sungano Mpani: “When you are detached from reality, stay in a hotel, family in Europe away from day to day lived reality how would you know the price of bread? Public officials should live, school and be treated in a country to get a shared perspective on day to day challenges of survival.”
Chipo Dendere: “This might be a non-issue but why is Mthuli sitting like that? Is he trying to take a nap? Is the chair too big for him? They told us he was polished but Maiwe! He must respect us and the taxpayer money that he gets every month. Zimbabweans this is your employee-sitting like so?”
Hamenoikoko had this to say: “The arrogance… next time we need leaders with humility and concern for issues that are “below” them even if they don’t feel the pinch. Mthuli doesn’t have to struggle to feed his family, many other Zimbabweans don’t know where their next meal is coming from.”
Another disgusted user, TKats, “The way he sits during this interview speaks volumes on its own about how he is not taking the discourse seriously”.
