Winky D to grace Soul Jah Love’s birthday bash

Zim dancehall top act Winky D is set to grace Soul Jah Love’s birthday bash set for this Friday at Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield. The two talented artistes, who are best friends, will share the microphone to mark Soul Jah Love’s 25th birthday.

Soul Jah Love, whose real name is Soul Musaka, is now among the few acts in the mould of Winky D who are able to stage shows on their own without being bundled up in groups.

This Friday, Soul Jah Love and the Conquering Family comprising wife Bounty Lisa, Ipah Yute and Jah Child will be at it again to thrill the ghetto masses.

Other heavy hitters to feature at the gig include Seh Calaz, Kinnah, Killer T, Ricky Fire, The Fire President, Freeman, Dadza D and Shinsoman.

Others include Ras Pompy, Ras Buster, Jah Trigger, Cello Culture, G Mbare, ZimJay as well as Tanasta. Dancehall’s foremost chanter selector Etherton Beenie, DJ Fleva, Mighty Ducks, FNG and Rhythm Force will are also billed to perform.

Thus the gig will feature two young artistes who are doing well at the moment.

Soul Jah Love aka Chibaba Chacho has achieved a lot ever since he burst onto the mainstream music scene.

Backed by the Conquering Family alongside his sweetheart Bounty Lisa and Ipah Yout, the “Hauite Hauite” singer makes no apology for being rated as one of the best in the genre.

Almost always he delivers the best tunes on any riddim and his lyrical prowess knows no boundaries. Most of his hit songs are imaginative pieces of art which partly addresses his shortcoming as he grew up.

Some of the songs that make you stop and think include “Handichabatika”, “Zimbabwe” and “Ndini Uya Uya”, in which he narrates his life in the streets, how he was condemned and rejected as a child.

These stories about his life make you believe that there is God above.

And more often than not, he gives thanks to the Almighty Lord for turning his life for the better through the gift of music.

He brags about his talent but he doesn’t say that he is the greatest but he gives all the glory to God.

The coming in of Soul Jah Love bears testimony to the fact that Zim dancehall is here to stay regardless of the fact that critics describe it as bubblegum music.

The world over, bubblegum music is trending and fans should be happy that after Winky D there is Soul Jah Love.Herald
