Zanu PF MP in Harare Car Crash

CONTROVERSIAL Zanu PF MP for Gokwe-Nembudziya Justice Mayor Wadyajena was Monday involved in a car crash in Harare which has left him nursing serious internal injuries.

Police spokesperson, Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident which occurred in the morning while the legislator, a runner for vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa, was driving towards the city centre along Borrowdale road.

“The police can confirm that Hon Justice Mayor Wadyajena was involved in an accident, investigations are under way to determine the cause,” Nyathi said.

Wadyajena has been vocal in the past few months, attacking senior Zanu PF officials.

According to close confidents who rushed to the accident scene, the MP’s BMW M5 sports car, suffered a breaks fault and ploughed into the back of a slowly moving truck.

“The MP was speeding and unfortunately, although mysteriously, the car developed a breaks fault. It is unusual for such a car to develop such faults because it is a high powered sports car,” said a close friend who requested not to be named.

The source said the lawmaker was rushed to a private medical centre in the capital where he was receiving treatment.

Wadyajena has, in the past clashed with senior Zanu PF officials chief among them party secretary for commissariat, Saviour Kasukuwere, ousted secretary for administration, Didymus Mutasa.

The legislator also played a key role in the demise of former vice president Joice Mujuru.

Three weeks ago, Wadyajena was told by his jailed driver who had stolen $40,000 from his car that he was under surveillance from party hawks who felt that the MP was being used by Mnangagwa to attack opponents.
