THE Joice Mujuru-led People First yesterday exposed former Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman, Temba Mliswa as a ruling party agent on a mission to destabilise and blackmail opposition parties ahead of the 2018 elections, it has been reported.
PF spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo told NewsDay yesterday that his party had resolved to not to pay attention to Mliswa’s “unfounded and designed rants” after realising his mission was to cause chaos in the opposition camp on behalf of Zanu PF.
“Who is Mliswa? We know he is an agent. Whatever he is doing, we know it is being done deliberately to blackmail us. We will not worry about it. We will continue with our work in order to achieve our core values,” Gumbo said.
Mliswa, at the weekend, told State media PF would never take off the ground, as it was already experiencing cat fights over strategy and control of its structures.
The former Hurungwe MP said Mujuru was reluctant to lead the yet-to-be-officially-launched party, but was being forced into it by Gumbo and former Presidential Affairs minister Didymus Mutasa.
PF is made up of members who were purged from the ruling party for working with Mujuru in an alleged plot to oust President Robert Mugabe.
Mliswa claimed that fights in the PF were being caused by officials who were divided over whether to enter into a coalition with MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai or former national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa.
“The problem arises from failure to determine who between the two will make a better ally and not cause problems for Joice.
One camp says Nelson is better because he is young and will be prepared to allow Joice to lead the proposed alliance as he can then take over later after gaining more experience. That camp says Morgan would want to lead any alliance with Joice as his deputy,” Mliswa was quoted as saying.
