Mr Ugly pageant gets sponsorship

MR UGLY pageant has received a major boost after striking a sponsorship deal with a leading furniture company, Lifestyle Furniture Centre, which is now the new sponsor of the pageant that has been gaining popularity over the last few years.

Since its inception in 2011, the pageant struggled to secure meaningful funds, forcing the founder, David Machowa, to inject his personal resources.

Machowa, who is popular as Apama, confirmed the developments and revealed that the company has already begun honouring the agreement by furnishing the Mr Ugly Pageant offices.

“This is indeed an honour to us that at a time we needed a sponsor, God answered our prayer and gave us Lifestyle Furniture Centre as our sponsor. It is the best thing the pageant needed. As part of the sponsorship deal, the company will sponsor our provincial pageant competition up to the final event,” said Apama.

The deal’s signing ceremony will be held at Garwe Restaurant on February 25.

Lifestyle Furniture Centre marketing officer, Prosper Chitiki, said the pageant has attracted international attention and they are destined to sponsor every event.

“We are happy to be the main sponsors of the pageant. It is a worthy cause. Apama has brilliant ideas and vision and the pageant has attracted international attention. Therefore, we will be sponsoring every event. We have already engaged the pageant by furnishing their offices something that shows that we are ready for the remaining events to unfold as far as the pageant is concerned,” said Chitiki.

Meanwhile, Apama is organising to host the first ever Mr Ugly World that will see the very continent represented at the event to be held in Harare later this year.-AMH
