G40 Planning Vote Of No Confidence On Mnangagwa

By Luckmore Mupukuti

As ZANU.PF succession wars get nastier and deep-rooted, another faction in that party going by the name G40 is planning to launch an all out attack on that party’s Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa with sources indicating plans are afoot to move a Vote of No Confidence motion by provinces on Mnangagwa.

The Midlands strongman faces stiff resistance to succeed Mugabe from a group of young Turks in ZANU.PF enjoying the backing of First Lady Grace Mugabe and allegedly from behind the scenes also that of President Mugabe himself.

According to a reliable anonymous source close to the G40 group, the three provinces of Manicaland, Mashonaland West and East will start the ball rolling by announcing the Votes of No Confidence motions on Mnangagwa while Midlands will be poked as a sign to show that Mnangagwa is finished.

The source also revealed that the G40 frontman himself Saviour Kasukuwere will take the war to Mnangagwa’ s doorstep on Friday when he will land in the Midlands province and address an anti-Mnangagwa rally.

In the Midlands province the rally is being organised by Makhosini Hlongwane with the help of Annastancia Ndlovu, Tapiwa Matangaidze, Jason Machaya, Chiratidzo Mabuwa, Smelly Dube and one Chihwereve.

In Manicaland the rally is being organised by Mandi Chimene, Samuel Undenge, Kudzanai Chipanga, Esau Mupfumi and Nyasha Chikwinya while in Mashonaland West the organisers are Sarah Mahoka, Priscah Mupfumira, Edna Madzongwe, Keith Guzah and Philip Chiyangwa

In the Mashonaland East province those running around to mobilise people and the anti-Mnangagwa rally are Vice Chairman Makokove, acting provincial Commissar Ngoshi, Beatah Nyamupinga, Paddy Zhanda and Kelvin Mutsvairo.

This reporter had a chance to see the draft petition which shall be signed by those to attend the rallies as a sign of agreement with the demand that Mnangagwa must leave office.

According to the source, placards shall also be instrumental at the rallies in relaying the message to Mnangagwa and his followers.

The source further revealed that First Lady Grace Mugabe is behind this move which replaces her infamous rallies where she was attacking the VP.

Grace is reported to have assured Kasukuwere and team that they have Mugabe’s backing on the project. This is so despite Mugabe having blasted those dividing the party at his state house address in the past few days where he castigated both Lacoste and G40 factions.

However It has become a norm in ZANU.PF that officials can defy Mugabe in broad daylight and get away with it.

It remains to be seen if Mugabe will stop these rallies or send police to crush and disperse them as he did with the War Veterans meeting recently in Harare where the former combatants were tear smoked and sprayed with police water cannons.

However a member of the Mnangagwa linked Lacoste faction who talked to this reporter on condition of anonymity has vowed that they will fight back by any means possible and they want to see Mugabe’s reaction to the G40 plans.

The G40 faction is pinning on Mugabe to finish off Mnangagwa in Masvingo on Saturday at his birthday as they would have savaged him on Friday, a day before the President’s birthday party.
