The 32-year-old woman pleaded guilty to the charge of assault when she appeared before magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami.

Muvhami in passing sentence said the complainant should have restrained herself and avoided taking the law into her own hands.

In her mitigation, she said she acted hastily and emotionally after coming face to face with Mushunje who was accused of the heinous crime.

“I was overcome by emotions and I do apologise to Tafadzwa and the court for what I did,” she said.

“I would like the court and Mushunje to forgive me for what I did.”

It was the State’s case that the woman on February 23 came face-to-face with Mushunje at Glen Norah Police Station after the model had been arrested for allegedly deliberately transmitting HIV to the accused person’s son.

The State further said that during the interview on how the crime was committed, the mother of the child became emotional to the extent that she assaulted the model once on the cheek with the back of her hand.

The State said Mushunje sustained a swollen cheek, but was not medically examined.NewsDay
