VICE PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangangwa’s wife Auxilia has attacked her husband’s ally, Lewis Matutu, of fleecing business people of their money in the name of the First Lady, Grace Mugabe.
Auxilia made the allegations against Zanu PF’s national secretary for administration in the Youth League while addressing the provincial coordinating meeting in the Midlands province last Thursday.
She said Matutu was abusing the name of Grace to defraud business people in Zvishavane, warning that he faced disciplinary action for the serious offence.
Amai Mnangagwa said Matutu’s extortion habits had reached alarming levels and were now of concern to the First Lady who has received numerous complaints from business executives claiming that they have been told to pay monies to the youth leader for onward transmission to “State House”.
“You are tarnishing the image of the party and that of the First lady. Business people from Zvishavane have complained to State House over your conduct,” Amai Mnangagwa said in a meeting in which Matutu was also in attendance.
“People have approached the President’s office raising issues that you are taking money from them under the guise that it is headed for the State House. You must stop this,” she went on.
When all this was being said, Matutu looked disappointed with no defence at all.
Matutu rose to fame in the run up to the party’s youth conference where he contested for the post of secretary for administration against now fired Varaidzo Mupunga.
He lost in the elections but managed to get the post after Mupunga was booted out on allegations of being linked to ousted vice president Joice Mujuru.
The Midlands States University student has also been accused of abusing youth funds and of failing to service a debt he had with a local financial institution.
He was also arrested for allegedly defrauding some business partners but the matter mysteriously never went through all the processes at the magistrate courts in Harare.
