Ambulance kills 2 as it collides

CHIVHU – The condemned Harare-Chivhu Road has once again claimed two lives when a Chivhu General Hospital ambulance going to collect blood from Harare sideswiped with a haulage truck before plunging below a bridge.
Although there was no official comment at the time of going to print, authoritative sources told The Mirror that Chivhu Hospital accounting assistant, Clinos Mufambi and another yet to be identified person who is believed to be a passenger picked on the way lost their lives.
The driver of the ambulance Joshua Ndengwe is said to have fractured his legs and there were four people in the vehicle.
The accident happened just 3km out of Chivhu as the ambulance headed towards Harare and sources said that the driver could have tried to overtake on a blind curve before side-swiping into the heavy truck.
Hundreds of people lose their lives every year along that road as the road has become too narrow for the volume of traffic and the road is also in a bad state as it is long beyond its lifespan.
