The month of November has seen the name ‘Amuli’ making headlines in streets, the press and on various online platforms due to the tragic death of socialite Michelle ‘Moana’ Amuli and the ensuing burial battles between her parents Ishmael Amuli and Yolander Kuvaoga.
Another Amuli is about to make headlines, this time around not related to the late Michelle Amuli.
Sungura musician Gift ‘Case’ Amuli will be unveiling a music video on Monday, according to H-Metro the video is largely characterised by ‘steamy’ and ‘erotic scenes’.
In one of the erotic scenes in the video that is likely to be the talk of the town, features a young naked model in a bathtub. Amuli said it is just his way of expressing a romantic storyline.
It’s not porn but just romantic scenes where were wanted the storyline to come out clearly, he said.
The 46-year-old Gweru based musician also told H-Metro that his wife was entirely on board with him working with young models on the video.
My wife understands the nature of my job and those steamy scenes won’t affect her any more.
She knows almost every person who featured in the video and I don’t think she can get pissed off.
There is nothing wrong with people getting a massage as long as it is done professionally, said Amuli.
Gift Amuli who is the band leader of Zvishavane Sounds collaborated with Zimdancehall artiste Xiddo on the song titled Chapera Muto, said he was on a mission to revolutionize sungura music videos by learning from young artists.
I have realised that sungura artistes have not been creative when it comes to music videos since they don’t invest a lot in this particular area.
As a torch-bearer who is also willing to learn from the young ones, I have decided to do something which has not been done over the years in sungura, he said.
Mr Amuli told H-Metro that before the year lapses he will be releasing a six-track album titled Hurongerana.
Gift Amuli is a seasoned sungura artiste who has a number of hit songs under his name that includes: Wedangwe, Munombozvigona Sei?, By Ginya, Machena, Yave Munesu (Bhora Mberi), Masvingo just to mention a few.
