Andrew Lincoln Says He And Danai Gurira Campaigned For Walking Dead Nude Scene

The Walking Dead shocked everyone when it two of its leads, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) started kissing in last week’s episode, No Way Out.

The encounter went way beyond kissing, however, and ended up with the two naked in bed together, ultimately getting an impromptu visit from their newest recruit (sort of) Jesus (Tom Payne). At that point the infamous scene of both drawing their guns sans any clothes takes place, but in the initial script, it wasn’t supposed to be so revealing.

In an interview with TV Line, Lincoln reveals that he and Gurira pushed for the initial nudity in the scene after he asked her “How are we going to top the kiss?”

The original script had Michonne grabbing a sheet for cover when jumping out of the bed.

“Danai said, ‘No, she wouldn’t. She’d go for her sword.’ And I said, ‘Yeah. And Rick would go for his gun. And we’d both benaked.’

“So we campaigned for the butt-crack shot [at the end],” Lincoln adds, proudly. “That wasn’t in the script. We both said, ‘If we’re going to do it, let’s do it.’”

Yeah, neither of them seems to be the demure type, and they didn’t survive this long to be taken out on account of someone seeing them nude. That would have been a rather embarrassing way to die.
