Apostolic sect leader rises from the dead

A leader of an Apostolic sect pronounced dead in Beitbridge and his body taken for burial in Rusape reportedly woke up.

Baba Mudzengi leader of the Madzibaba Wechishanu Wenguwotsvuku of Zezani village in Beitbridge was pronounced dead by church leaders. But when his body arrived in Rusape, his mother ordered them to put his body in the bedroom.

She said he was not dead but had left to get supernational powers. For four days they camped at the homestead before being told that Baba Mudzengi had risen.

“We got news that our church leader Baba Mudzengi had died after complaining of a headache. Money was collected from congregants to ferry the body for burial at his homestead. When we got to his home in Rusape, we were shocked because there were no people gathered to show that they had received the sad news,” a congregant said.

One of the church elders Baba Shava officially confirmed the development.

“I don’t know what to say because we had concluded that our leader Baba Mudzengi had died. However, it turned out he was going through a certain phase in life and his mother later corrected us,” said Shava.

The faithful followers await his return to Beitbridge. “He has not yet returned and we were told he had to go for prayers and fasting for some time,” Shava said. b metro
