The increase in output came as the company unveiled its new-look for its brand pies costing $1 for 4 pies, $1 pies and $1,50 pies. The $1 for four pies means that customers will have more as the pies were being sold at $0,35 each.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new look brand pies and official opening of its pie factory in Harare yesterday, Innscor Africa Limited board chairman Addington Chinake said the group has invested $8 million in the new fully automated state-of-the-art pie machinery which was expected to move high volumes going forward.

Baker’s Inn is a unit of Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed conglomerate, Innscor Africa Limited.

“Today, we are here to witness two things, the official opening of the new plant which Innscor has invested $8 million to install the state-of-the-art machinery over a period of six months
“Secondly, we are unveiling our new look for our brand pies and we are manufacturing from our new plant. The four new lines are Chicken pie, Beef, value steak pie and smoky beef and this will improve the volumes of our pie sales. We will sell our pies at any currency operating in Zimbabwe,” he said.

He said the group was selling 60 000 pies a day, but the new pie plant has an installed capacity of 180 000 pies.

Bakers Inn chief executive officer Ngoni Mazango said the prices for pies were coming down to $0,25 cents each and the company has improved all its products range.

“We were the first to reduce the cost of bread to $0,90 and I want to assure you that we were also the first to introduce a branded distribution fleet and our trucks are top of the range,” Mazango said.

He said the group has spent $7 million towards the distribution fleet to ensure the product reaches to the customer every day and on time.

Chinake added that the introduction of $1 for 4 pies was going to increase volumes in all shops.
