Born Again Christian Chihuri Threatens to Resign Over Police Brutality ?

Police Commissioner General, Augustine Chihuri, says if President Robert Mugabe’s government continue insisting on brutalizing innocent citizens over and above oppressing them, he will be left with no option but to resign.chihuri_police_chief

Speaking  in Gwanda at the weekend, Chihuri said he understood the concerns of the citizens who are increasingly protesting against Mugabe’s regime, and said the situation is putting him in a corner.

“What is happening is very regrettable,” Chihuri—a born-again Christian and preacher said shortly after delivering a 4-hour sermon at the Gwanda gospel festival.

“As a Christian, I do not condone what it happening and if it continues, I have no option but to resign… what does it benefit a man to have the whole world and yet lose his soul?” said Chihuri, who has been police chief for the past 25 years. “I particularly know how it feels to be powerless in the face of brutality because during the war, I was one of the commanders who were locked up and brutalised,” he said, adding that he is not at all amused at what is happening “because the beneficiary of all this brutality is still the same”.

“Psalm 14 verses 13 and 14 say, “You have made us the taunt of our neighbours, the derision and scorn of those around us. You have made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples “Isaiah 10 verses 1-3, “Woe to those who enact evil statutes And to those who constantly record unjust decisions, So as to deprive the needy of justice And rob the poor of My people of their rights, So that widows may be their spoil And that they may plunder the orphans. Now what will you do in the day of punishment, And in the devastation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your wealth?” Chihuri could not be drawn to reveal at whom these verses were directed.-Online

Anyone can repent and have his/her sins forgiven. However we need to demonstrate the works of repentance. This means apologizing to all the people that one has mistreated, and seeking their forgiveness. It also means handing back all monies illegally acquired.
Also it is actually a bit late. He is commanding his forces to beat up innocent peaceful citizens one day, (which has been happening for the last 36 years), and preaching the next . . Come on.
