South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs said the Beitbridge border post was open on Saturday.
This follows some unrest on the Zimbabwean side of the post on Friday, when rampaging traders caused a five-hour blockade.
They have torched a Zimbra tax agency warehouse, where illicit goods were held.
More than 85 percent of Zimbabweans have no formal employment and many make a living by buying goods from South Africa to sell back in Zimbabwe.
The South African Revenue Service said it will approach the Department of Trade and Industry to help resolve the matter.
A Zimbabwean journalist who spoke to eNCA earlier said the ban on trading will affect the poor.
However, the Zimbabwean government is not backing down.
The chaos at Beitbridge, on Zim border with SA, shows Mugabe’s failed policies are hurting the poor; protecting the rich. What a disaster.
