HARARE – Stand-up comedian Carl Joshua Ncube is setting trends in the local showbiz industry following the decision to spread his dragnet across the world, thanks to his online (YouTube) channel — Carl Joshua Ncube TV.
Ncube said the channel is playing a pivotal role in his career as it is promoting his works, not only in Zimbabwe but the world at large.
“Carl Joshua Ncube TV is a brand new channel on YouTube dedicated to showcasing content around Carl Joshua Ncube and featuring some of his favourite people and things that are on YouTube.
“It is now easier for viewers and fans to connect to great content online without having to search for videos one at a time. A new playlist is set up every Sunday,” said Ncube who previously performed at several comedy nights including the Tswane Comedy Nights in Pretoria, South Africa.
Ncube who doubles as an animator and a website designer is known for products like Late Night with Carl among others.
Comedy is appreciated mainly in other parts of the world, hence this will give local artistes such as Ncube an opportunity to promote their talents and compete with internationally-acclaimed artists around the globe.
Globally, most of the artists are capitalising on social media including video-streaming platforms (YouTube) to reach out to their wide audience or viewers.
South African humorist Trevor Noah and Ugandan artists Annie Kansiime and Herbert Segujja, who is well known by his stage name Mendo Sevo or simply Teacher Mpamire, are among the top artists who benefited a lot from the social media platforms.
When Kansiime performed in the country at 7 Arts Theatre in Harare late last year for the first time, her two shows were all sold-out thanks to social media.
Ncube started his career in 2007 in South Africa at Nomad Comedy’s Open Mic Nights at Tony’s Bar and Grill, Randburg.
Since then, he rose to become one of the formidable comedians in the country and performed in Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and Australia among others.
