CHAN 2016: Mali eliminate Zimbabwe after a 1-0 win

Mali took a big step towards qualification for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in Rwanda, which eliminated the local Warriors from the tournament.

A solitary goal from Moussa Sissoko was enough to give Mali the win in their second match of Group D.

It ended Zimbabwe’s hopes of progressing further, after they had already been beaten 1-0 by Zambia in their opening match of the group.

Despite an entertaining first half, neither side broke the deadlock with the teams heading into the break at 0-0.

Later on Saturday, Uganda and Zambia were scheduled to meet in their second Group D fixture.

The African Nations Championship is a continental football tournament where teams can only use home-based players.
