The Sunday Mail had reported that founder of the now defunct retail bank Kingdom Holdings and the party’s Mashonaland East provincial Chairman Ray Kaukonde were involved in plot to topple Mugabe.

Chanakira, however took it to his social networking site, Facebook to refute the allegations.

“There is a nasty front page article on me in the Sunday Mail. I pity and forgive the writer/s as my hero Christ was falsely accused and dealt with the allegations in such an exemplary manner. I remain His student.

I appreciate all family and friends who have called, in boxed me and advised me that they are praying for me. I felt appreciated and trusted by you all and I won’t let you down on this one by God’s grace.

For the record let me state categorically that it is fiction from my viewpoint. I actually was away on business for the best part of the last couple of weeks. I attended no such meetings and The Lord will vindicate me as my advocate”, wrote Chanakira.

This revelation is a latest twist in the battle to succeed Robert Mugabe. Supporters of President Robert Mugabe’s wife Grace have accused vice-president Joice Mujuru of being at the centre of a plot to assassinate the 90-year-old Zimbabwean leader, the Sunday Mail reported.
