Chimbetu, Shumba Perfoms At Magaya Service

Mutare-based musician Blessing Shumba and dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu yesterday thrilled thousands of congregants who attended Prophet Magaya’s Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries service in Waterfalls.

The two musicians performed at a service where Prophet Magaya was unveiling new anointing oil.

Prophet Magaya told his followers that their lives were going to change for the better this year.

Shumba was the first to perform and he proved why he is called the “Psalmist”.

The musician brought the house down with his songs that left congregants spiritually satisfied.

The song “Mapisarema”, off his latest album “NdiJesu”, sent people to their knees.

The “Mufaro” hit-maker proved that he was prepared for the sermon as he preached after every song.

Some of the songs that kept congregants on the dance floor were “Chimwe Nechimwe,” “Nyaradzai Vanhu”, “Hama” and “Chikuru Rudo”.

The musician said he was happy to be granted a chance to perform at a service that has people from all walks of life. “This is encouraging and as you can see, people have shown great appreciation for my new album,” he said.

The musician left thousands, including foreigners, convinced that he is the gospel musician of the moment.

He paved way for dendera exponent Chimbetu, who played his songs such as “Nyuchi”, “Samatenga” and “Zuva Raenda,” among others.

It was the song “Musandisiye” off his latest album “Gunship” that prompted congregants to go onto the dance floor.

The musician joined some of the congregants with some of his band members when he played the song.

He proved his mettle as he also played songs that have a gospel message, much to the delight of the congregants.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Prophet Magaya said it was good for him to call musicians from different genres as they light up the service.

“It is good to have musicians across the divide as they entertain congregants,” he said.

It is not the first time for a secular musician to perform at Magaya’s church. Tocky Vibes performed at the church last year and the church leader says inviting the musicians is a way of bringing people to salvation.
