Christian leaders warn of Zimbabwe’s total collapse

Decrying the repression of protestors, the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference has joined with other Christian organizations in warning of the nation’s “total collapse” unless the government addresses citizens’ legitimate concerns.

The Christian leaders lamented “rampant corruption and high levels of unaccountability and impunity” and said that “political, social and economic meltdown” has “caused untold suffering of the masses.”

The nation of 14.2 million, led by Robert Mugabe since attaining its independence in 1980, is approximately 75% Protestant and 11% Catholic.-Catholic World News
