Coca Cola Honours Winners of Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola Top 50

It was prizes galore yesterday at Mandel Training Centre when winners of Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola Top 50 were presented their goodies.

Musicians and listeners went away with money and several prizes that included television sets, radios and cell phones.

Leonard Zhakata, Jah Prayzah, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Ammara Brown walked away with money and hampers.

Zhakata was the biggest winner after he pocketed $2 000 for his songs “Dhonza Makomborero” and “Dollar Boy” which topped the charts.

Zhakata saluted his fans who voted for the song throughout the year.

“We did our part but the biggest role was played by fans who voted for the song and we want to thank them,” he said.

He said it was a great honour to have a song that tops the chats.

“It is the beginning of the year and when fans vote for you it encourages you,” he said.

Third Generation manager Filda Muchabaiwa represented Jah Prayzah who is currently touring Australia. He got $500 for “Makanika”, a song which was on third position.

Muchabaiwa thanked the organisers saying the prizes motivated artistes to work hard.

“It keeps us motivated as artists and we keep on working hard so that we get the reward at the end of the year,” said Muchabaiwa.

She urged fans to continue participating in the competition.

Fungisai walked away with $300 for “Gore Rapera”, a duet she did with Jah Prayzah which came fifth while Amara’s song “Kure” was number six and she got $200.

Fungisai said she felt elevated and promised to release two albums this year.

“This gives me energy and this year I will release two albums one gospel and another on social issues,” said Fungisai.

Ammara said she was happy for the recognition.

“I will work on albums now because I have seen that people are appreciating my works,” she said.

Last year Alick Macheso emerged the biggest winner of Radio Zimbabwe Coca Cola Top 50.
