Former Zimbabwe international defender Dickson Choto has opened up on a failed move to English Premier League heavyweights, Arsenal.
Choto confirmed that he was tracked by scouts sent by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in 2007, but despite ‘impressing’ the move suffered a still birth because of an injury.
Polish goalkeeper Lucasz Fabianski who played with Choto ended up joining the English giants after he also made an impression.
In an exclusive interview with ZTN Sports, Choto went down memory lane giving more insights on the failed dream move.
“It was because of an injury, I was injured before the move was finalised,” he stated.
“It was not only Arsenal. I was recommended to Celtic but the move failed because I was injured(again).
“Fenerbahce sent scouts, and when I was about to go there after they were convinced, I got injured again.
“Then there was Stock City when they were playing in the first division before they were promoted to play in the premier league and I got another injury,” said Choto.
The retired Zimbabwe international had a praiseworthy career in Europe where he spent 13 years playing in the Polish League.
However, a career ravaged by injuries restricted him to the Polish league. He was operated on six times on different occasions.
