Ex- Zimbabwe Cricket Boss Peter Chingoka Dies

Former Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) boss Peter Chingoka has died aged 65.

Chingoka death comes a year and half after his brother, former Tennis Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Olympic Committee president, Paul died on the 13th of July 2018.

The Sports and Recreation Council of Zimbabwe confirmed his death on their Facebook page saying they were saddened by the former ZC boss’ death.

“We have received with a deep sense of sorrow and sadness the news of the passing on of Peter Chingoka, a revered and long serving Cricket Administrator. Peter’s commitment to sport in general and cricket in particular was unquestionable as evidenced by his immeasurable and invaluable contribution to the growth and development of Cricket,” read part of the statement.

Chingoka had an illustrious career as a cricket administrator serving as the president of the then Zimbabwe Cricket Union from 1992 to 2014, where he assumed the position of chairman in 2001.

He also contributed significantly to the game’s development across Africa as a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) board.

Condolence messages have started pouring in with the ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney describing Chingoka’s death as sad news for the cricket world.-zbc
