Former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has alleged that the retirement of Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioner General Paradzai Zimondi was a historic end to the post-Independence presence of ZANLA High Command in the Command Element.
Posting on Twitter, Professor Moyo said, “This is historic. With Zimondi’s exit, the curtain has fallen on the presence of former ZANLA High Command members among service chiefs. Ex-Zipra commanders have taken over the reigns!”

When one social media user pointed out tha Zimondi was not in the ZANLA High Command, Moyo replied, “Nonsense. He was. And the last one remaining. He is a Zanla general; a Zanu commander, if you will. Of course you don’t understand. You have a pre-Independence Zanla High Command in mind. The Zanla High Command continued post-Independence. That’s why Zim is a military state!”
According to Zimlive, the 73-year-old former army Major General is being terminated on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
“The PSC wrote to President Emmerson Mnangagwa in June stating that Zimondi had reached the retirement age, and recommended his retirement. Mnangagwa approved and the PSC formalised the process,” Zimlive said quoting sources familiar with the developments.Source – Byo24
