Former Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joram Gumbo has just been arrested. The former minister is said to have been arrested for corruption in the purchase of new planes for Air Zimbabwe. He was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for criminal abuse of office. Gumbo is currently the the Minister in the President’s Office in Charge of Policy Implementation,
Gumbo becomes the second minister in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to be arrested by the anti-corruption body after former Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira. Mupfumira is facing corruption charges involving US$95 million and once spent 21 days at Chikurubi Prison after she was repeatedly denied bail.
