Jah Cure concert: Sniper Storm gets US$50

Local musicians have complained that they are being treated unfairly by local promoters, especially when they share the stage with visiting artists.

A leaked conversation that has been doing the rounds on social media between musician Sniper Storm and one Vee Jay a promoter revealed that Sniper was offered $50 as part of Jamaican Jah Cure’s supporting act.
Sniper Storm is said to have been offered $50 as part of his performance fee at Jah Cure’s concert at the Harare International Conference Centre last Friday.
In the telephone conversation, one Vee Jay, who allegedly spoke on behalf of music promoters 2 Kings Entertainment offered Sniper Storm US$50 in a take or leave it tone.
In the conversation, Sniper refused the offer and demanded that he be given $800 instead or anything close to that amount.
Sniper’s manager Chido Musasiwa confirmed the incident and expressed disappointment over the treatment of local artists by some music promoters.
ZBC News failed to get hold of Vee Jay for a comment as his mobile was not reachable.
However, 2 Kings Entertainment boss Tich Maradze dismissed the allegations, adding that Vee Jay is only hired to provide certain services.
The leaked conversation exposes the exploitative relationship that exists between musicians and some local promoters.
