Jah Prayzah stranded at border

Award-winning musician Mukudzei Mukombe, real name Jah Prayzah, failed to perform in Mozambique at a show that was scheduled for Saturday. According to the musician’s management, the no show was due to a detour which delayed their arrival at the Nyamapanda Border Post, which they found closed.

“It was late and they could not get there on time forcing them to return to the capital,” said a source.

The musician’s manageress, Fildah Muchabaiwa, confirmed the incident saying it went beyond their control.

“Everything was on schedule and we were travelling in good time but all hell broke loose when we arrived at Chivake Bridge that was closed. We had no option but to use an alternative dust road that took us ages to reach the border post,” she said.

Muchabaiwa said efforts to negotiate for entrance with staff at the post were fruitless as some of the workers had already left.

“By the time we arrived at the post it was around past 8pm and we tried to negotiate with them but they insisted that it was past their closing time,” she added.

She said they had since explained their ordeal to one of the promoters of the show although they were disappointed by the turn of events.

“I have talked to one of the promoters who have understood and we have resorted to rescheduling to a later date,” she said.

Muchabaiwa said Jah Prayzah was remorseful and hurt over the failure to perform for his fans in Mozambique.
